The accumulation value is the money growing inside your IUL, credited with interest or indexed rates. It reflects your policy’s performance over time.
The surrender value, usually less than the accumulation value for the first 10-15 years, is what you’d get if you canceled the policy. The difference accounts for surrender charges, which help recoup setup costs.
For long-term goals, focus on the accumulation value. Don’t cancel early—this is a long-term strategy!
